Among the futuristic innovators, Hugh Herr is sort of a legend. Billed as a "Bionic Man", Herr lost both his legs below the knees to frostbite during a climbing accident in New Hampshires White Mountains in the early 1980s.

A doctor told him he would never climb again. Defiant, Herr used a local machine shop to hack together custom prostheses from rubber, metal and wood. He went on to become a successful climber.

The legend today is busy creating bionic limbs at the MIT Biomechatronics lab that emulate the function of natural limbs.

Despite being a double amputee himself, his breakthrough advances in bionic limbs provide greater mobility and new hope to those with physical disabilities.

"I viewed the missing biological part of my body as an opportunity, a blank palette for which to create," he said during the 2015 "Autodesk University" conference.

Co-director of the MIT Center for Extreme Bionics as well as Founder of BionX Inc, Herr has heralded a new bionic age, which was visible to the audience at the recently-concluded "Science in the Age of Experience" conference in Boston this month, organized by the 3DExperience French major Dassault Systemes.

Pakistani Model Hailed as 'Gentleman' for Helping Fellow Model with Broken Heel on Ramp

A Pakistani model is being called a "gentleman" on social media after a video of him helping out a fellow model facing a wardrobe malfunction went viral. The incident occurred on Day 3 of the Pakistan Fashion week when model Kesha Siddique suddenly broke her heel while walking on the ramp. However, her colleague Subhan Awan who was also on the ramp, chose to break out of the routine and help Siddique. In the short clip, Awan can be seen holding Siddiqui's hand first and helping her walk. However, when she continues to struggle, Awan bends to his knee and helps he model take off her broken shoes. Ancient Painting Found in French Woman's Kitchen Sold for Rs 2.66 Crore

An old painting found in the kitchen of an elderly French woman, who considered it an icon of little importance, has made her a multimillionaire. The work, a masterpiece attributed to the 13th-century Italian painter Cimabue that was discovered earlier this year, sold for 24 million euros ($26.6 million) Sunday. Dominique Le Coent of Acteon Auction House, who sold the masterpiece to an anonymous buyer near Chantilly, north of Paris, said the sale represented a “world record for a primitive, or a pre-1500 work.” “It’s a painting that was unique, splendid and monumental. Cimabue was the father of the Renaissance. But this sale goes beyond all our dreams,” Le Coent told The Associated Press.
